The UITP Summit is arguably the world’s most important mobility conference for public transport. With over 300 exhibitors, 340 speakers, and over 70 sessions, Hamburg is expected to be the hotspot for discussions on mobility from June 15 to 18, 2025. More than 10,000 experts from local public transport, including representatives from transport companies, government agencies, industrial suppliers, bus manufacturers, and political decision-makers from all over the world, are expected in the Hanseatic city. The Electric Vehicle division of the Indian-based JBM Group has now announced the world premiere of the electric bus developed specifically for Europe for the UITP Summit 2025.

The electric bus is available for immediate order, according to Daniel Fräde, Director of Sales, Marketing & After Sales Europe at JBM Europe. Delivery will then begin in January 2026, following receipt of orders. The bus will feature renowned European components such as axles and doors, and the familiar console will also be installed for the driver’s cab. As a newcomer with ambitious goals, the Indian company presented its first electric buses at Busworld in 2023, and also made a presence at Bus2Bus 2024. A South Asian proverb guides its approach to market entry in Europe: The knowledgeable know and inquire; the ignorant don’t even know what to inquire about.

JBM researched the European market well in advance, and with Daniel Fräde, JBM has a bus expert on board who knows the industry like no other. In addition to discussions with interested customers and transport companies, the two electric buses were also occasionally loaned out for initial customer test drives. The feedback motivated everyone involved to refine the electric buses accordingly. Since Busworld 2023, the Indian company has had its sights set on the ever-growing European market: „The electric coach and bus have now been adapted to the specific needs, requirements, and wishes of European customers and are ready for series production,“ explains Daniel Fräde in an interview with omnibus.news.

The rendering still shows conventional mirrors, but a digital mirror replacement system is standard. The world premiere of the electric bus will take place at the UITP Summit, and the coach will then be unveiled in the fall at Busworld. JBM can build 20,000 buses per year; the order book for the current year currently includes 12,000 buses, and an increasing number are featuring locally emission-free drive systems. The batteries were and will continue to be manufactured in-house. Technical details of the 12-meter electric bus, which will also be available as a 10-meter or 18-meter-long vehicle, will not be disclosed before the world premiere, according to Fräde.

But then the Director of Marketing finally gets through, saying he can still tease something during today’s conversation with omnibus.news: The LFP battery has 424 kWh, and the range varies depending on the type of use and topographical conditions. Der wohl weltweit wichtigste Mobilitätskongress für den ÖPNV ist der UITP Summit. Mit über 300 Ausstellern, 340 Rednern und über 70 Sessions dürfte Hamburg vom 15. bis 18. Juni 2025 der Hotspot der Gespräche über Mobilität werden. Mehr als 10.000 Fachleute aus dem öffentlichen Personennahverkehr, darunter Vertreter von Verkehrsbetrieben, Behörden, Industriezulieferer, Bushersteller und politische Entscheidungsträger aus aller Welt werden in der Hansestadt erwartet. Für den UITP Summit 2025 hat die Electric Vehicle Sparte der JBM Group aus Indien nun die Weltpremiere des eigens für Europa entwickelten Elektrobusses angekündigt.

Der Elektrobus sei sofort bestellbar, so Daniel Fräde, Director Sales, Marketing & After Sales EuropeAls Newcomer mit ehrgeizigen Zielen präsentierten sich die Inder 2023 mit ersten Elektro-Omnibussen auf der Busworld, auch auf der Bus2Bus 2024 zeigte man Präsenz. Vom einem Sprichwort aus Südasien wird das Handeln für den Markteintritt in Europa bestimmt:

Der Wissende weiß und erkundigt sich, der Unwissende weiß nicht einmal, wonach er sich erkundigen soll. Über den europäischen Markt habe man sich lange im Vorfeld informiert, mit Daniel Fräde hat JBM einen Busexperten an Bord,Neben Gesprächen mit interessierten Kunden und Verkehrsbetrieben hätte man die beiden Elektrobusse für erste Kundenfahrerprobungen auch vereinzelt ausgeliehen. Das Feedback habe alle Beteiligten motiviert, die Elektrobusse entsprechend in Details zu verfeinern. Seit der Busworld 2023 haben die Inder den stets wachsenden europäischen Markt im Visier:

„Nun wurden der E-Reise- und Linienbus an die speziellen Bedürfnisse, Anforderungen und Wünsche der Kunden aus Europa angepasst und sind serienreif.“, erklärt Daniel Fräde im Gespräch mit omnibus.news. Das Rendering zeigt noch konventionelle Spiegeln, zum Standard gehöre aber ein digitales Spiegelersatzsystem. Die Weltpremiere des Elektro-Linienbusses findet auf dem UITP Summit statt, die des Reisebusses dann im Herbst auf der Busworld. 20.000 Omnibusse pro Jahr kann JBM bauen, aktuell sind im Orderbook für das laufende Jahr 12.000 Omnibusse zu finden, immer mehr haben einen lokal emissionsfreien Antrieb.

Die Batterien wurden und werden hausintern gefertigt. Technische Details des 12m Elektrobusses, der auch als 10 hzw. 18m langes Fahrzeug erhältlich sein wird, wolle man vor der Weltpremiere nicht kommunizieren, so Fräde. Aber, da kommt dann doch der Direktor für Marketing durch, etwas könne er heute bei dem Gespräch mit omnibus.news doch noch teasern: Die LFP Batterie habe 424 kWh, die Reichweite variiere je nach Einsatzart und topografischen Verhältnissen.
