english text below – Der Countdown läuft, die Brussels Expo oder auch die Expositiehallen van Brussel bzw. Paleizen van de Heizel sind vom 4. bis 9. Oktober der Nabel der Buswelt. Das Messegelände der belgischen Hauptstadt liegt auf dem Heysel-Plateau im nördlichen Stadtteil Laeken. Es geht auch in deisem Jahr wieder hoch hinaus, die viele Weltpremieren, die schon im Vorfeld der busworld angekündigt wurden, lassen eine spannende Messe erwarten! Wie sich vor zwei Jahren angedeutet hat, müssen europäische Bushersteller denen aus dem Reich der Mitte mehr denn je Paroli bieten… Jetzt sind aber erst einmal die Messebauer aktiv.
Am Donnerstag und Freitag dürfen die Vertreter der internationalen Presse auf das Ausstellungsgelände, am Samstag öffnet die Busworld dann für die Fachbesucher die Türen. Wer an einem der Gewinnspiele für eine Freikarte auf omnibus.news teilgenommen hat, hat einen Code erhalten und diesen sicherlich schon eingelöst… Auch Brüssel ist, wie die Busworld, multikulti: Offiziell zweisprachig ist die belgische Hauptstadt auch für ihre Gegensätze bekannt. So stehen die vielen EU-Abgeordneten und Diplomaten in ihren Maßanzügen neben Touristen aus aller Welt um Pommes Frites an. Und ja, Brüssel ist bunt, wie die Comics von Tim und Struppi (Tintin) von Hergé belegen.
Aber nicht nur die sind hier zuhause, auch Stups und Steppke (Quick et Flupke) hat Hergé noch auf das Papier gebracht. Und auch Blake und Mortimer von E. P. Jacobs, Asterix von René Goscinny und Albert Uderzo, Lucky Luke von Morris und Goscinny, Isnogud (Iznogoud) von Jean Tabary und René Goscinny und Gaston von Franquin haben ihren Ursprung in Belgien. Comicfiguren werden ebenso als Kunst verehrt wie flämische Meister. Zu den viel besuchten Attraktionen der Stadt gehört auch ein überdimensioniertes chemisches Modell, von dem man einen wunderschönen Blick auf das Messegelände und die Expositiehallen van Brussel bzw. Paleizen van de Heizel hat.
Wer neben der Busworld noch etwas Zeit hat, sollte auf jeden Fall die Comic Strip Route ablaufen und auch ins Comic Art Museum gehen! Die frittierten Kartoffelstäbchen sind weltweit bekannt und schmecken nirgendwo so gut wie in ihrer Heimat. Auch dafür gibt es kleines Museum, das Musée de la Frite Bruxelles setzt der Variante der einer schmackhaften Kartoffel ein Denkmal – und frische Pommes Frites gibt es natürlich hier auch! Mitunter sind es die einfachen oder auch kleinen Sachen, die besonders wertvoll sind. So steht In einer kleinen Gasse der Brüsseler Altstadt eines der kuriosen Wahrzeichen von Brüssel: das Manneken Pis.
In regelmäßigen Abständen wird die kleine Bronzefigur eines pinkelnden Jungen mit einem neuen Kostüm eingekleidet… Über 130 seiner alten Gewänder sind neben dem königlichen Konservatorium von Brüssel in der Ausstellung Garde Robe Manneken Pis zu sehen. Und: Der Kult um die Figur hat auch schon für Nachahmer gesorgt: So gibt es seit 1985 als weibliches Pendant die Brunnenfigur Jeanneke Pis. und, wir sind in Belgien und nehmen es mit Humor, seit 1998 Zinneke Pis, einen Hund, der einen Straßenpfahl anpinkelt…
Wer in Brüssel unterwegs ist, wird immer wieder einmal schmunzeln. Das gilt natürlich auch für den Besuch der Busworld. Man freut sich nach zwei Jahren alte Bekannte zu treffen oder schmunzelt, wenn die legendären Stimmungsmusikanten durch die Hallen ziehen… Die Busworld ist wie der Grand Place im Herzen der Stadt. Der zählt – wie die Busworld mit den Neuheiten – mit seinem Ensemble an majestätischen Bauten zählt zu den Top-Sehenswürdigkeiten in Brüssel. Man wird wieder stauen, auf der Busworld und in Brüssel auf dem Grand Place, der alle zwei Jahre im August für vier Tage mit einem ein farbenprächtiger Blumenteppich aus etwa 700.000 Blumen mit wechselnden Motiven für Aufsehen sorgt… (Busworld/omnibus.news/Sr)

The countdown is on: Brussels Expo, also known as the Expositiehallen van Brussel or Paleizen van de Heizel, will be the center of the bus world from October 4th to 9th. The exhibition center in the Belgian capital is located on the Heysel Plateau in the northern district of Laeken. Things are looking up again this year, with the many world premieres announced in advance of busworld, promising an exciting trade fair! So, the many EU representatives and diplomats in their tailored suits line up alongside tourists from all over the world for French fries. And yes, Brussels is colorful, as Hergé’s Tintin comics attest.
But they’re not the only ones who call it home; Hergé also brought Quick and Flupke to life on paper. Blake and Mortimer by E. P. If you have some time besides Busworld, you should definitely walk the Comic Strip Route and visit the Comic Art Museum! The fried potato sticks are famous worldwide and taste nowhere as good as in their homeland. There’s also a small museum for them: the Musée de la Frite Bruxelles pays tribute to this version of the delicious potato – and, of course, you can also find fresh French fries here! Sometimes it’s the simple or even small things that are particularly valuable. For example, in a small alley in Brussels‘ old town stands one of Brussels‘ curious landmarks: the Manneken Pis.
Regularly, the small bronze figure of a peeing boy is dressed in a new costume… Over 130 of his old costumes are on display next to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the exhibition Garde Robe Manneken Pis. And the cult surrounding the figure has already inspired imitators: Since 1985, for example, the female counterpart, the fountain figure Jeanneke Pis, has existed.
